The big bad wolf.

Matix's ward (my parents ward) had a talent show last weekend.
As soon as my mom heard about it she, she knew we had to do our "3 Little Pigs" skit.
I don't really exactly know how the skit even came about...all I know is one minute we were reading the story at bed time, and the next we are reciting/acting it out at all times of the day, and for anyone that will watch.  Matix made up all of our lines from his memory of the story. We would alternate turns being the pigs and the wolf...but for the talent show, we both decided that he makes a much scarier wolf. Although he did change his mind about being the wolf about a billion times before the show.  All he could talk about was going to church to be the big bad wolf. He didn't even want to go to his dad's house that week, because he was scared he'd miss it. Cute kid.

I'm really proud of my little boy! he did such a good job! I was certain that we'd get up there and he'd get super shy in front of the crowd...but he did quite the opposite. He actually was quite the microphone hog! He wouldn't even let me say my own lines....he was saying them both. Finally, I gave up fighting for the mic and let him take control. It turned out super cute. Everyone loved it and came up to tell him how great he did. He was the youngest participant by far, and I'm so proud of him! Go Matix!
See for yourself....

He even got a sucker necklace as a participation reward.
He was so excited!

Take your child to work day...

Was yesterday.
... But I decided to bring Matix to work with me today!
My mom was up in Utah all week visiting her dad, so my office manager suggested I just bring Matix to work with me today. I figured what the heck, especially since me leaving for work on Fridays is usually such a traumatic experience. What can I say? The kid loves his mama. However, when this plan was arranged, I wasn't sick, so it seemed a little bit more do-able. Going to work sick is horrible itself. Going to work sick... And having to keep track of a kid is quite the task. But luckily he was great and we survived thanks to a whole lot of movies and a few treats from Wendy's.... ;)
Oh how I loved spending the day with my boy. I just wish I wasn't so sick. I'm so over feeling like crap.

Royal Wedding.

This week has been awful. Seriously awful.
Somehow I got sick on Monday. Like had the flu, want to die sick.
And then I got better.... or so I thought....
Here I am 4 days later feeling just as bad as Monday, maybe even worse.
Someone tell my body to fix itself....and soon.
Thank goodness I finally was able to get to the doctor today.

On the plus side...I have had a lot of time to catch up and watch some good 'ole television while being a bum in bed all day. Here's my thoughts:

Who knew Audrina from the Hills had a new reality show? I didn't!! But now I do. And now I have watched all 3 episodes. And it's pretty boring....but I'll still watch it I'm sure.

The Real World? Ya I have never watched it....until now. It's in Las Vegas again...so I thought what the heck....and I was in bed all day remember? ya...well...let me just tell you...MTV sure knows how to pick 'em because that show is getting worse and worse every season.... I'm sure. To find out your "boyfriend in the house" is/was a closet internet gay porn star. Umm...probably the worst thing that could possibly happen to a girl. I feel so bad for the girl. And I feel bad that I am watching it all unfold and now i need to know what happens next. Stupid MTV. If you don't watch...you probably should just keep it that way.

Now moving on to the Royal Wedding!
I am suddenly so super intrigued. Kings, Queens, Princesses...they all seem so surreal. This is not real life....I'm pretty sure it's just a Disney movie or something. But I am loving all of the coverage. Okay maybe not ALL of it...but i do like to get my daily dosage of it. And the wedding...I recorded it and will surely be watching it as soon as I get home from work today.

In my "research" (if you can call wikipedia that) I found out some interesting things that I did not know. If you think I'm dumb for not knowing this things, I am sorry. But I'm sure there are plenty of you out there that didn't know it all either....

a.) Even though Catherine married a prince, she is not a princess. To be a princess on your own you have to be born into royalty. She will be named Princess William of Wales, when the monarchy is rearranged and prince Charles becomes the king. Her official title as of now is "Her Royal Highness, Duchess of Cambridge"

b.) Queen Elizabeth the II "reigns" over sixteen independent sovereign states... United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevi....I really just thought she was the Queen of England...who knew?

c.) Kate and William are kissing cousins...Sir Thomas Leighton (an Elizabethan soldier, the Tudor tyrant was best known as the cutthroat Governor of Guernsey for some four decades.) '...is William's 12th generation great-grandparent, and Kate's 11th, making them 12th cousins, once removed.'

d.) When Kate Middleton becomes the wife of Prince William she will not be able to do certain things because she will be joining the Royal Family. These are the 10 obligations she must follow:

1. People may not address her as ‘Kate’
Once married, her official title is “Her Royal Highness Princess William of Wales.” People can refer to her as Catherine or Catalina in Spanish, but “Kate” may not be used.
2. She will not have the right to vote
Both the Queen and members of the family have the right to vote, but the royalty considered unconstitutional and violate the real desire to represent all sections of society, including minorities.
3. She cannot aspire to political office
For the same reason mentioned in point 2.
4. She cannot escape public observation
The future princess will have to avoid exhibitionism. She will have the approval from the public and rejection. She will always be in the sights of the people, the press and the rest of the world.
5. She cannot play Monopoly
In 2008, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, said the royal family was not allowed to play Monopoly at home because “it was a very vicious game.”
6. She cannot express issues that cause controversy
She cannot disclose publicly her political preferences, social, sexual and accept large amounts of money from the “business” for an interview with her husband.
7. She cannot eat seafood
The royal family does not eat seafood for fear of getting sick or poisoned.
8. She cannot perform any work
Although Kate has degree in Art History may not work for money while she is being part of the royal family but is allow making official activities and charitable causes and supporting her husband Williams on official missions.
9. She cannot sign papers which are not official
Kate cannot sign autographs or anything other than official papers already authorized by the Queen, just so her signature doesn’t get faked. But she could sign some papers and government regulation in lieu of her husband.
10. She cannot finish her meal
If Kate was eating slower than the Queen, she must quit although recently has started her plate. In Britain, when the queen finishes her meal, all guests must do it also.

As cool as it might be to be in the royal family....I think I would prefer my much more simple life. Disney does not make prince/princess life seem this complicated ;)

Congrats William and Kate...thanks for keeping me entertained during my sicky sicky week.

easter festivities.

Our Easter festivities started with our Annual Family Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. The whole family came over for dinner, dying eggs, and of course, the hunt. Our family is getting so stinkin' big that any family gathering becomes such a big ordeal. (12 adults including two significant others and 13 kids including two step-grand-kids that hardly come to family functions) Luckily my dad's infamous "garage" is framed, so it was the perfect place to host the chaos.(More on the garage to come...)
We sure appreciate all the hard work my mom puts into such fun family activities. Thanks mom.

Easter Morning:
I had to wake Matix up at 8 o'clock to see what the Easter Bunny had brought him. Lately Matix has become quite the night owl, and prefers later nights and sleeping in. Silly kid. It took a few minutes for him to wake up and then he was off to find his basket. The Easter Bunny wasn't so nice this year, and hid it under the living room couch pillows! That silly rabbit. ;)

In his basket was a ton of candy, Mighty Beans (he's been wanting for a while now), A new Book of Mormon church book, and some dinosaur figurines. The dinosaurs are definitely his favorite. This kid is obsessed with dinosaurs. They go everywhere with him...eat breakfast, church, playtime, and even get tucked into bed with him. :)

Then it was off to church. I let Matix come to church with me and Dougy, because it was a special occasion. Plus there was an easter treat "munch and mingle" after. Of course he loved coming. And so did my friends. And he looked so super handsome in his new Easter suit.

On a sidenote: As I was getting ready for church I was listening to my favorite church song, "Oh Lord, My Redeemer," hoping that they would have a musical number of it because it is the perfect easter song. And then I get to church, and bam, and special musical number with that song. It made my day.

Our Dinosaur Rawrrrr!
After church we had our traditional ham and potato Easter dinner. Took extra long Sunday naps. Visited the Eells house to say goodbye to Audrey before she leaves for AZ. Then it was off to bed...with our dinosaurs, of course.

It was a Happy Easter!

embarrassed.

Oh how I love my little boy. Oh how I love my little boy. Oh how I love my little boy.

This is what I have to keep repeating to myself after nights like last night.

My good friend Katie, asked if me and Matix wanted to hang out on Thursday night, earlier last week. Of course we said yes, but then at the last minute she remembered she had to go to one of those house party things where they get you to buy some super great product. In this case it was cleaning stuff, and it was her sister in law, so she really felt like she should go . Totally understandable. So she asked if we would just come with...so we did. Her sister in law has a few kids so Matix just played with the little boy upstairs. He came down to go potty and I was super happy about it!  Go Matix. And then....a little while later I started to smell something. Oh no it could not be Matix. We had just gone to the bathroom and i know that he would not go #2 in his underwear at a house where we have no extra clothes and don't know ANYBODY (except Katie). He would never....

...But he did. Of course he did.

Oh well, not a big deal. I took him back to the bathroom and we cleaned everything up. I'm not super happy, but it's not that big of a deal. It happens, right? That is until we go to flush the specimens. Everything goes down....but the water comes up. And it keeps coming up...and it does not stop. I freak out and open the top and try to make it stop and then water sprays everywhere. Matix runs out into the family room (half naked let me remind you) and I follow. The ladies shriek "peepee alert" and then I say "the toilet is flooding and I can't make it stop!" At this point I am beyond mortified. I can not even tell you. Then we we get back to the bathroom, turn off the water (duh...I'm so dumb!) and look at the HUGE mess I made in this poor ladies house-that i do not even know! Seriously an inch or more of water filled the entire bathroom and all the way down the hallway! And there stands a half naked Matix. I literally could have died.

The lady was so super nice and she had a wet vac in the garage so we got to work. I apologize and apologize and tell her to get back to her party but she refuses. Seriously...this was her party and she's cleaning up our mess. I could not believe that this was really happening. She said they had just moved in and hadn't really used that bathroom much, so it probably was a problem with the toilet. That made me feel a little bit better, but still.

After our little episode was over, and all was cleaned up. I walk back out and offer to buy some of the products they were selling. It's the least I could do, right? I'm not much of a cleaner...but good thing mother's day is coming up, right?!?! haha

It was basically one of the most humiliating nights of my life.
But Matix sure loved calling and telling everyone about how
he went poop in his pants and then he made the toilet flood!

Oh how I love my little boy. Oh how I love my little boy. Oh how I love my little boy.

Knott's Berry FUN!

Last weekend we decided to take a last minute trip to California because Doug missed his family, and was aching to get in the ocean for a little surf session. I feel bad because before we started dating, Doug used to go home at least once a month, if not more. And, even though it seems like we go to CA a lot, it's not as much as he is used to. It doesn't help that he works weekends though, so I am not completely to blame  :)

So we make the decision, get the time off work (him), invite his sister Robin (in Utah), and then we do the smart thing and check the weather. Rainy. Cold. Rainy. Cold. In other words crap crap crap. We (I) decide that rain+cold does not=a fun day at the beach so I suggest some alternatives to Robin...one alternative being Knott's Berry Farm. Who freaking goes there? I have no idea, but it's cheap and awesome. (from what we can remember) We both get extremely excited...

...and then Doug got jealous.
So basically our planned surf trip turned into a Knott's Berry Farm trip. Just.Like.That.

Let me just tell you..Knotts is the shizzzz.
It is the perfect mix of Disneyland and Six Flags.
It has Camp Snoopy with a whole land of kid-ness.
But then it has all the big roller caster rides too.
Including Excellerator-that goes from 0-80mph in 2 minutes. Ridiculous.
And by ridiculous I actually mean awesome.
You know what else is awesome?
Doug's mom deciding to come with us at the last minute, only to find out that she doesn't even like roller coasters and just wanted to take Matix around for part of the day. It could not have been any more perfect. I owe her --big time.
On the other hand, young, minority, junior high school couples who suck face through a 40 minute line are not awesome. They are gross. And I'm really happy we made them feel awkward with our commentary...for the whole 40 minutes we were behind them.

Oh....now let me tell you about "the eye."
Poor Matix had a rough couple of days....well actually...just his eye did. He
-fell down the stair and hit it causing a bruise.
-got knocked into a wall by Doug's behind (on accident) and bumped his poor bruise.
-fell onto a rock in a like at Knott's, hitting it perfectly on his already super black, super bruised eye and cut it open.
My poor child looked abused by the end of the trip.
Good thing it looks worse than it hurt. He said it hurt but he never complained.
I think he mostly like the attention he got and telling and re-telling the stories :)

Sunday was filled with church, baking, and family dinner at Doug's brother's house in Rancho Cucamonga. Robin loved having Matix's help with baking a cake...

....and Matix didn't mind helping ;)

It was the first time the whole family had been together in a while...so we snapped a couple cute family pictures. Yes. Doug and his brothers all look very much alike. Sometimes even the kids confuse them....jk.

Kim, Katelyn, Jeff, Jimmy, Mark, Ann-Marie, Doug,
Robin, Dean, Christian, Debbie, Sidney, David
Yet again, it was another fun-filled California weekend.
It's no wonder Matix always asks to go to California.
 :)

PS: The weather ended up not being rainy or crappy, just a little on the chilly side, but nothing to complain about.
Oh, and we had dinner Saturday night with the besties, Zach and Steph. They made us some bomb food and then we played Bananagram...all night. It was perfect. I love them.
