father & sons

Matix loves being a boy. He loves outdoors, and hiking, and camping, and everything boy. One of his favorite things to do every year is go to the annual father and sons campout with his papa. It's such a fun thing for them to do together. He's gone every year, but I've never blogged about it because I never get pictures. Until this year! Devin decided to go join in on all the fun, which is awesome itself....BUT I also got picture text updates. It looked and sounded like they had a blast hiking, climbing, sleeping under the stars, and slipnsliding! Love my boys.

creepy crawler birthday party.

When I first started bringing up the idea of a birthday party a few months ago, Matix's immediate response was a dinosaur party. Of course. But I was not about to do the same thing I just did last year (even thought I do have a ton of tails leftover so that would have been convenient), so I put him to work coming up with ideas. He bounced around a ton of ideas including an eyeball party, a fan party, and a truck party. Finally he made the decision to do a GREEN CREEPY CRAWLER party and it stuck. For two months he would tell everyone he came in contact with that he was almost four, his birthday was May 18th, and he was having a green creepy crawler party. To say he was excited would be an understatement.
Devin had to work the weekend of Matix's actual birthday, so we decided to have his big birthday bash the weekend before. Father and Sons was Friday night so it was busy busy, but everything worked out perfectly. We had a great turnout and was a lot of fun. All the food was green, of course. We had a bug hunt with nets I scored at the dollar store, a spider cake made solely by yours truly, played with bubbles, and ended with the party with fun on the bouncy house.

Happy Birthday Matix!!
We sure do love you.

four.

My baby boy is FOUR years old.
Is that even possible!?!
He was convinced that when he woke up this morning he would be a totally different person now that he's four. Of course we all played a long with it. The first thing he asked me when he opened his eyer was if he was really four now? And I acted like I could hardly recognize him. Then he stood up on my bed, on the floor, and then in the mirror to see if I recognized him. I told him that four year old Matix is just so much cooler than three year old Matix. He agreed :)

Here's some things about this crazy little boy of mine..

-He still loves dinosaurs. I don't think that will ever change.
-He loves to play the copycat game and thinks it's hilarious.
-Prefers watching Netflix over anything else. (National Geographic animal shows)
-Is addicted to cell phone games
-Hugs me and tells me he loves me all day long. It melts my heart every time.
-Gets spoiled with snuggles every night from his grandpa
-Is great at recognizing all his numbers. He loves telling me what time it is etc...
-Loves his cousins so so so much.
-Loves anything outdoors. Hiking. Bikes. Dirt. Swimming. etc.
-Is in swimming lessons. It won't be long until he can swim all by himself.
-Favorite color is still green. Pink is second.
-Favorite restaurants are McDonalds, Red Lobster, and Panda Express.
-Is getting very very very independent.
-Says the funniest things all the time... I don't know where he gets the things he says...
-In the middle of a conversation he'll get this funny look in his face and say "awkward"
-Makes mental notes on his hand and says "note to self"
  - Says "No tears, this is a happy moment" perfectly timed
  - "Mom, I got you a sucker but you took too long so I ate it"
-"When I'm five I get to go to school and when I'm six I get to have a girlfriend!!"

I love this little boy more than anything! He keeps me entertained and I can't imagine life without him.

mother's day.

I am so grateful that I get the privilege of being Matix's mom. He is the sweetest, cutest, funniest little kid on the planet. I don't know how I got so lucky. He is my world and I'm so grateful for him. These two boys made my mother's day perfect. They spoiled me with hugs and kisses all day long. Matix sang a song with the primary during sacrament meeting, and it just melted my heart to see him all grown up standing up there. I don't think he actually sang very much of the song, but he sure made mama proud. My dad also spoke in church. That was a treat. I have such good parents and I'm grateful for all they do for me. I am definitely blessed. We ended the night with a special firework show with my sister and her family put on by Devin and Matix. Who gets that on Mother's Day?!?! I do!!

Devin's Birthday Celebrations.

Boyfriend had a birthday, shout hooray!
He turned 27 on May 1st.
(And he moved to Vegas on April 25th)
So we had quite a few little celebrations in his birthday honor.

Celebration #1:
Before the big move, we had a combined birthday shindig for Dev and his little sister Maren on Maren's actual birthday. We went to dinner at the Red Igunana, Shopping at the new City Creek Mall, horse carriage ride around downtown SLC, and cake and ice cream back at the house where things got a little crazy with the helium.

Celebration #2:
The day before his birthday my parents took us to dinner at Bonito Michoacan with my brother and sister in law. He got his own mariachi band birthday serenade and even went home with a sombrero of his very own. What a lucky duck. We also had cheesecake and cookie dough ice cream, along with the complimentary churro for dessert.

Celebration #3:
On his actual birthday, Jon let us steal Matix for a few hours to go to lunch. Devin picked Red Lobster. Matix may have helped him make that decision. It was either that or Chuck E Cheese. For dinner my friends (who are now OUR friends) all went to dinner at Kona Grill. They spoiled him with homemade gifts. He loved the skinny tie, feathered Jew hat, and dinosaur socks.  After dinner we went downtown and played some video games at Insert Coin.

Happy Birthday Devin!
