my son: the singer.

matix LOVES to sing.
(he also LOVES to play the piano.
i think he just loves music in general)

anyways, when he was younger, i used to spend most sundays in nursery with him because he went through a tiny bit of a clingy stage. well, luckily he got passed it and now he couldnt be more excited to go to nursery every week. he runs as fast as he can after sacrament is over. my dad has started a little game with him--where if he runs fast enough he gets to turn the lights on in his classroom! kids find so much joy in such simple things. anyways, since i've been divorced,  not only do i not go to nursery with matix, i dont even go to church with him (i go to my singles ward--it helped me make new friends and get myself out there socially) but luckily my parents take him (and they LOVE it) and i get home right when naptime is over! its perfect. anyways..even though im sad i dont get to see him color, make crafts, or watch him participate during singing time ( he always sang the loudest)...im glad i am filled in on what he's learned...when he randomly breaks out in songs i never even knew he knew! he's so cute!!

"i killed MUFASA"

yep...that is exactly what my child SCREAMED at the top of his lungs during the final scene of "Disney's: The Lion King" which we saw at the Mandalay Bay on Thursday night. Everyone surrounding us stared and laughed but it was beyond cute.

To say that Matix LOVES the Lion King, would be an understatement. The kid is OBSESSED! (as i've mentioned before) He would watch it all day everyday if i let him. It's always his number one request (although he recently has moved on to a few other likes as well) He used to only let me listen to lion king songs in my car. I got really sick of Hakuna Matata and the Circle of Life. He pretends he is a lion every day. Some days it's Scar. Some days it's Mufasa, and some days it's Simba. He always picks a lion for me or my mom to be as well. And he sometimes makes me walk down the hallway on all fours pretending to be a lion. See what i mean? OBSESSED!

So every time we see a sign for the LK, matix gets so excited. I've been really wanting to take him...however, they don't have children tickets so all tickets are priced very expensive...(like around $100...way to much to take a 2 year old, even one with this much of an obsession) So, you can only imagine how excited I was when i found out from a friend that you can get 2 Seat Filler Tickets for $25.00 each on the day of the show, with a student ID! (yesssss, i still have my UNLV ID, it comes in handy...and  doug has his BYU-H and we convinced my bro to head down there too)...so we go 6 tickets!! and off we went! (mom, dad, doug, me, matix, cana)

-He loved the beginning/all the animals
-He asked "Can I touch it???" the WHOLE time! (he wanted to touch the animals)
-He loved the show but it was a little long for him. By the end he asked to go home and go to bed.
-He screamed "I killed Mufasa" at the end.
-He sang most all of the songs. (They included quite a few songs from the movie LK 2, which also plays on repeat in our home...his favorite line is the 'o-o-iyo' line, which he sang at the top of his lungs)
-When Simba leaves pride rock and timon and pumbaa find him almost dead, matix yells..."he looks like a hot dog" i almost died, but he kinda did...brown on top and bottom...yellow in the middle?
-Candy helped keep him entertained while watching!

Overall I'm really glad we went. The show was really good. The costumes were amazing. and it was really fun to see matix so excited! I know this LK phase won't last forever..so I'm glad we took him right at the peak of it, even though he still is probably a little young to fully enjoy it :)

i cant even tell you how awesome she is.
so instead ill just show you...

this year the theme was
Thomas the Train
(matix needed NO convincing to go..he was sooo excited!!)

we got there and first on the agenda was to eat SOME freaking BOMB panda express
(no complaints here) get in my belly!!!

Then matix and adam played for a few minutes until the FUN begun...
The kids had to collect some coal that was scattered in the backyard to get their trains to go

Then they got the proper gear...
and they followed the train tracks...

and made their way through the tunnels...
 until they found the...

  TRAIN!!

then it was pinata time...
where they took turns

from youngest...

 to oldest...
and when no one was able to break it....they all grabbed a string and
PULLED!!

After candy time...
it was...

CAKE TIME!!
(umm...cutest cake everrrrrrrrrrrrrrr??? made by kelli herself!)

matix talked about that cake for days after the party!

why wait???

so...back in august... me and doug got word that rascal flatts would be filming their newest music video for their newest single "why wait?" here in Las Vegas...
at the CHAPEL aka..dougs house.

say what??
um..yesss...please.

so we were volunteered to "help" out as much as we could from 10 pm-1 am (holy heck)
like unlock the doors, get them stuff they needed, etc.
well, they basically TOOK over the chapel, but we did our job. thought it was awesome for the first...umm..hour...and then we went to sleep. (i need my beauty rest)

they were still cleaning up at 3 am when i left the property.
man, a LOT of work goes into a dang 4 minute video!!
and we were just ONE of like TEN locations!
they were filming for 15 hour days, for 3 days they said.

but it was fun to be a small part of!
and yes i snuck a few pictures, veryyyyyy slyly, of course.
so there it is...proof that i was there.
and the video premiered on CMT on Monday..
so, enjoy :)
and while youre watching think of us there, on site, watching it all go down.

oh and lets not forget to mention that rascal flatts are not the first to use the chapel in their video...carrie underwood also filmed there, a few years back!

yep, the chapel--it's the place to be, i tell ya! haha

and here it is...almost 3 years later and i FINALLY FINISHED IT!
yep, i suck as a parent. ha.

(and my other kids, when and if i ever get blessed with more--because i will not be making anymore!)

i think it turned out pretty cute!

have grown from teeny tiny babies...

into...crazy, active,
One-Year-Olds

yep, i cant believe it.
and steph handle them like a champ.
(i always wanted twins growing up,
but after babysitting a few times,
im perfectly content getting kids one at a time!)

Oh Girls...

they just wanna. they just wanna.
girls just wanna have fun.
That's all they really want
When the working day is done
Girls--they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun,
They wanna have fun

-Cyndi Lauper

and that's just what we did friday night.
we ditched the boys, put our freakin' dresses on and acted shamelessly girly
-dinner, dancing, snacks, gossip, and sleepover-
jealous? well you should be.
especially cuz MY BOY hooked it up vip status with the limo!!!

it was a last minute surprise and the girls went crazy.
aghhh, it was the best.

dinner at margaritaville
and then we danced.

then we got picked up in style and headed back to the chapel,
for a little "tunnel of love" and rooftime fun!

Gosh i have the best boyfriend.
and the best girlfriends.

then it was back to brookes... for grub, chit chat, dancing, and basically a whole bunch of ridiculousness...

until..i had to leave... because with being a mother and all...sleepovers just don't quite fit into the 6:30 am wake-up call from my darling baby boy ;)
