lucky son of a gun

so not even two hours after jon got "the car," the air conditioning went out. so he called up the rent-a-car place and they had just got a pontiac g6 in. lucky. lucky. that's all i have to say.

anyways. the insurance company totaled out his car. RIP little jetta. Jon is pretty sad because he really loved his car. I dont really get why. i guess its fast? he's such a boy. so now we are on the search for a new car. im pushing for something a little bigger...like a passat? (since he is 6'5 rolling in the tiniest car ever. sitting behind him in the car is impossible but of course he doesn't seem to mind. ughh)but we'll see where the wind takes us. Jon's pushing for a car identical to his. go figure. what's the fun in a new car thats just like the one you had? i dont get it. but oh well...he's a man. On the plus side, we bought his car for $5500, and they totaled it out for $7300. who says a car cant be a positive investment? just kidding. things are working out and jon will be home sweet home in less than a month (october 10th)!! hooray. he's been gone for SO LONG.

in other news:

i have officially rid matix of his bottle. he's not seen a bottle in 4 days and going strong. he's not super stoked about it. he wont drink milk out of a sippy cup. but out of sight, out of mind. and before long he wont even remember what a bottle is...? hopefully. haha.

i bought my halloween costume!!! and couldnt be more excited about it. agh. its a childrens large, but surprisingly fits pretty well. i cant wait for halloween! i just have a few minor adjustments and then have to start making jon and matix's costumes. yes, im gonna sew. (with the help of mi madre). i bet you guys all cant wait to see us on halloween! aladdin. jasmine. and abu. yes. you love it.

this is what i have in mind for matix. too bad its 75$ on etsy so ill have to recreate my own. but it's freaking adorable. i figure this is the only year ill be able to make him be what I want him to be. :)

car problems.

last week jon's car randomly broke down. when i say broke down, i mean gone. dunzo. totaled. ugggggh. somehow he got a hole in his oil pan and in a matter of 10 minutes (?) all the oil leaked out of his car, which caused the engine to seize. awesome right? so fortunately he has free towing, so he had it towed to the closest vw dealership. next comes the big questions...what happened? and will his insurance cover it?

the dealership conducted a "breakdown" where they take it all apart to try and figure out what caused the hole. (***if something in the engine failed causing the hole, the insurance does NOT cover it ***but if an outside object such as a person creating the hole or a rock hitting the pan caused the hole, the insurance WILL cover it) okay so after the "breakdown" the dealership concluded that something had impact with the pan, causing it to move, and a sprocket from inside caused it to fail and created the hole? (i know NOTHING about engines so that probably makes no sense. it doesnt make sense to me either) But the fact of the matter is that SOMETHING did hit the pan, and caused the engine to fail. right?

Wrong. Apparently the insurance company wanted to be lame.com and still say that they would NOT cover it.

poor jon. he was so frustrated. (and so was I)

so after endless phone calls, threats, and arguing, the insurance claims adjuster came back out to the dealership yesterday and reevaluated the situation and DECIDED THAT THEY WOULD COVER THE DAMAGE! meaning jon's car is going to get a whole new engine in his car! (i think) hallelujah.

so happy jon got his butt down to the dealership this morning to pick up his rental car....

yes. a kia rondo. the most horrifying "not quite a car, not quite a minivan" on the face of the planet. it was the ONLY car on the lot. and trust me, Jon tried so hard to get it switched. (sorry to anyone who may own, or may ever-in-their-life think of purchasing the above mentioned "car")

i personally think he'll look very sexy strolling around in this hunk of metal for the next two weeks or so. Watch out texas ladies...he's MINE!

***Plus it brings back the sweet memories of endless laughter when the buhls also were put to shame in their RENTAL RONDO a few years back. I made fun of darci so bad. and now it's our turn to share in the joys. but luckily jon gets to hog this experience all to himself ***

lake trips.

a few weeks ago (august 13th) we went to the powell with the fam/friends.

i have been unable to go to my favorite place in the entire universe for the past 3 summers in a row, due to various things like china :), mexico, and just plain life...so i was overly anxious to finally go relax and make more memories here.

and that we did.

not to mention it was matix's first time on the houseboat!!

did i mention that we almost got attacked by a beaver???

okay so maybe not. but he definitely didnt appreciate us hiking over his dam...

and therefore rerouted our hike up a mountain, instead.

good times.

last saturday (august 22) my wonderful padre to me and a bunch of mis amigos to lake mead for the day.

although the weather was less-than-ideal, there was no stopping us from having a grand time.

in fact..it ended up being one of my favorite trips. everrr.

it must have been the company :)

or the fact that the waves were ginormous..which made for some awesome jet-skiing, and some intense tubing.

and of course i cant forget to mention the fact that my new flowing locks of hair...

motivated me and my friends to become mermaids.

we put ariel to shame. true story.

plus it was her first time to the lake everrrrrrrr.

what??? ya you heard right. go megs. i love her.

firsts....

today is the FIRST day of my LAST semester at UNLV. i cant hardly wait to graduate from this dang place, however i think that this semester is going to be mighty rough. First of all, I go to school FOUR days a week. Then i have to squeeze in a 30+ hour work week, and 2 online classes, plus homework for my other classes. Did i mention i have a child that might just be neglected for the next 4 months? my mother will be a permanent babysitter. oh yes. sounds fun right?? but come december i will be an associate degree (CSN) and bachelor degree (UNLV) holder. Then hopefully i can find a real job? in my field of interest? hmmm... hopefully.

today is also jon's FIRST day in DALLAS, TEXAS. He moves from san antonio today to his new office in dallas. He has a new manager for extended season, which i think he is excited about. He will not come back until the middle of october now, which is sad...but may also be a good thing since im going to be soooo busy with school. i wont have to worry about him trying to distract me since i havent seen him in foreeeevverrrrr. speaking of which...im going to visit him in dallas next weekend (labor day) so if anyone knows of anything exciting to do there, let me know. im excited. i hear its a cool city!!!

extensions

yes, my wonderful friend ashley put some extensions in my hair last night.
it's definitely taking some getting used to.
they are reallly long. it's kind of weird to have such long/thick hair.
but they are fun.

should i cut them a little more? or keep them this long...??

last week (maybe it was two weeks ago) jon's company he is working for in texas, had a competition between car groups for who could get the most sales. well jon's team won, and jon was the most improved teammate from the week before so he got first choice out of the prizes!!

(more beneficial to me than the other options...like xboxes)

((a month or two back, my friend corbin and i had a conversation that went a little something like this...))

corbin: "Hey! you love the sounds....you wanna come with me and taryn on august 7th??"

me: "heck yesssssssssss i do."

corbin: "okay, but theres a catch...they're coming with no doubt."

me: "uggghh. how much....??"

corbin: "oh just $90...."

me: "say what???"

corbin: "i know it's a lot..but its THE SOUNDS!!"

so today is the day.

and instead of paying $90 dollars to see them ((for the 4th time))

with no doubt and panic! at the disco,

i will be having my own dance party tonight. by myself.

Do not shut down the poor little strip station post office. I know it is not very busy, and it probably makes sense, but I am a loyal customer. I go to this place almost daily. In fact I just spent $500 buckaroos there yesterday. That has to count for something. The workers know me by name and let me sit on the bench and read a book while im waiting for my certifieds to get done. Please Oscar, just make my day and decide to not close this secret station down.
