Lake Powell

The whole family set sail on Lake Pleasure again in July. My dad's work schedule got a little crazy and my uncle is a jerk and a half, so my dad was unfortunately unable to make it. Luckily his cousins, Mark and Annelle took his place as captain and first mate last minute so we didn't have to cancel. We owe them! We parked in Face Canyon and the Gutierrez's parked next to us. Conditions were great and we got to see one of Matix's friends from the ward, Seth get baptized in the lake! So fun! We sure love this family tradition!!!

lake powell.

After spending a week in Utah, we headed straight to Lake Powell with my family. Can I just say that I absolutely love the drive from Provo to Wahweap? Because I seriously do. We were supposed to do an overnight cabin trip with some of Devin's friend that got cancelled last minute so we decided to head down early and bring Matt and Anne with us since they both had already taken work off! It was perfect. We had a very small group this trip. Just my sister Julie and her family, my parents, us, and Matt and Anne. That's the smallest group we've ever had... so we decided to just keep the boat in the marina. That ended up being a very good thing since our boat broke down on our very first ride. Such a bummer. Luckily we got a little bit of tubing and wake boarding in before the boat broke. Matix was super brave and got back on the tube after a couple years. He had a rough experience, but he is back to loving it for the most part! We finished the day up with swimming and game playing. Even though the boat never ended up getting fixed, and 4 mechanics couldn't figure out what was even wrong, (my dad spent his entire father's day working on it :( ) my parent's stake president and very good friend was also out there and let us borrow their extra boat. What a freaking lifesaver! Our trip would have been such a bust without them. Especially since it was Matt and Anne's first trip to Powell! We squeezed all the important Powell activities in just in time for them to leave: tubing, hiking Labyrinth Canyon, Rainbow Bridge, Dangling Rope ice cream, star gazing and sleeping under the stars, and endless board and card games. We also got to hike West Canyon after they left. My favorite. We still cut the trip a couple days short because of the boat dilemma which was a bummer...but we definitely had plenty of fun in the sun!! Until next time...

Party Rockin' Powell!

Remember last year's Lake Powell trip with a bunch of friends???
Ya...well..we did it again!
And it was fun. fun. fun.
Gosh, i love my parents.
And my awesome. awesome. friends.

This year we went over Labor Day weekend, which made the trip a little bit longer than last year!
The weather was perfect.
The water was perfect.
The company was perfect.

The weekend consisted of:
late nights, fish feeding, wakeboarding, tube wars, sunsets, sandy beaches, the best hiking ever, indian ruins, cliff jumping, sugar comas, rainbow bridge, new friends, tan lines, hot mess hair, cherry chapstick, ice cream pit stops, movies, deep conversations, and laughing til tears.
these are the times i will ALWAYS remember.

  The Crew:
Brian Marx, Nate Giles, Rebecca Albrecht, Christy Cropper, Brokk Jimenez, Jaron Wilson, Jane Zimet, Matix Mason, Brynn Thomas, Me, Tifani Walker, Becca Wardle, Steven Carter, Allison Brown, Luke Andrews, Chaz Ralphs
(Not pictured: Mom and Dad, and Bianca Mendoza)

Every time I would tube or wakeboard, Matix would be so concerned when I would fall. He would always yell to me..."Mom, are you okay? I love you. Be careful!" It was so cute. He also told my mom that he needs a little board so he can wakeboard like his mom. Aweee. So cute.

Matix and Nate were the best of friends!! They were so cute together.
Mommy and Nat are the best of friends too :)
Captain Mom and Pop.

Rainbow Bridge!!

I got to hang out with my friend Sam! I love her. Bad picture though.

Worst group picture ever...stupid sun.

Finally the water level is up high enough at Powell to do the awesome awesome hikes that I love so much! Finally!  It was a really cool hike at the end of West Canyon. It was harder than some I've done in the past, but we all worked together and conquered it! Yep, we literally climbed straight up that wall.

It was the perfect trip to end the perfect summer.
Man, this summer has been good to me.
And things just keep getting better and better.
