As mentioned here, I made back to back trips to Utah to see my grandfather and again two weeks later to attend his funeral. The weekend of my grandfather's funeral I also got to see a few of my friends so that was fun! My friend Eric coordinated a ride and also let me borrow his car while I was there so I didn't have to drive up there alone. Then I rode back with my parents. Super sweet of him. So I got picked up at my doorstep by Miss Tatum. We spent the whole drive talking about anything and everything and it sure made the trip go quick! She's a doll. The first night in Utah I stayed with Jane in SLC. The next night I stayed with Anne in Provo and then a night with Brynn in Sugarhouse. I got around. haha. But in all honesty these are some of my three most favorite friends...
Jane: My dear Jane. I met her right after I got divorced but our friendship didn't really blossom until right before she left on her mission in 2012. She was going through a really hard time and needed a good friend. Luckily, I was able to be that friend. We wrote her whole mission and I even got to surprise visit her on her mission in NYC. When she got home, we spent most days together. Just her and I until she departed to Utah. I'm so glad we got to spend a whole day and night just her and I. We haven't been able to do that in a long time. Jane has such a good heart and really just tries so hard to be the best person she can be all the time. I admire her for that. I also snuggled her new dog Teddy and he came every where with us that day. Matix was in heaven and I became my own worst enemy :)
Anne: Anne was married to Devin's best friend when we were dating. We spent a ton of time with her and her husband going on trips and doing all sorts of fun things ALL the time. We got really close. And then right when my world fell apart. Hers did too. We both became single within about a month of each other. Luckily, even though our relationships ended--our friendship sure didn't. It bloomed. Anne is probably one of my favorite people in the world. She is genuinely always happy, always thoughtful and always down to have a blast. Plus she adores Matix more than anyone. They live in this whole fantasy world when they get together. We spent the night hanging out with friends, playing games and I passed out downstairs in front of everyone. The next day I went to my cousin Angela's baby shower, then the fineral and met back up with Anne and Lauren (another fave) in SLC to go to the fair. I'm glad I have young friends to go on all the spinny pukey rides with Matix. We had a blast!
Brynn: I have a million things to say about Brynn but I've said a lot of them before here. She is literally the nicest, funniest girl in my life and I feel so lucky to have her as one of my bests. After the fair I took off to her house and felt so happy that some of our old school Vegas crew met me there so we could catch up and reminisce while Matix slept. We even snuck out way past our bedtime and got some Denny's. It was so just like the old days. And perfect. Thanks Nate, Maren and Josh for the memories. And I'm pissed we didnt take a picture so here's some old treasures.
These people rock my world. And as sad as it makes me that they live so far away. I'm grateful that our friendships just keep growing and and I get chances to spend quality time with each and every one of them. I really have been so blessed in the friend department.
This trip was a perfect trip for the books.
