East Coast Road Trip: NYC

I am going to start off this post with a quick little advertisement for Priceline's Name Your Price aka best thing ever. I have always had such great luck using it, but this experience trumped all experiences. We booked our hotel the day before...kept our stars high...and dollars low. (as low as you can) And BAM...$130 a night later, we find our selves walking up to this bad boy.
and then we turn around and see this...
and then we walk inside and ask how much the rooms are going for that night (a Friday night, even)...$359.00 a night. Shut up. Insert happy dance...for the rest of the day. Scratch that...the rest of the trip. Livin large. Thank you Priceline.
Yes, I was paid for this advertisement jk (but I should have been )

Our two days in New York were filled with non-stop fun. We had an Ashley day...which was filled with Coney Island (see above post),  9/11 Memorial, Times Square, and Starlight Diner (favorite place in all of NYC).

And a Devin's Day...for which we bought the New York City Pass. Still a great purchase, even the second time around. There are so many aweseom things to do on that thing...and this time we picked out a few of the not so typical touristy things, such as sailing to the Statue of Liberty, and bike riding through Central Park (and stopping to see a free concert in the park and the Lennon memorial. Sweatiest/funnest/most exhausting ride of my life. We also did some touristy things that Devin had never done so we figured we better get them checked off his list while they were free: The Top of the Rock (day), NBC Studio Tour, and the Empire State Building (night). Unfortunately our Empire experience was less than ideal. We went there as our very last destination of the day, and apparently a million other people had the same plan. We waited in line for what seemed like forever (my feet and body hated me), and by the time we made it outside it started to pour, POUR rain. We were pretty much tired, cold, and miserable by then, so we immediately headed down and I kid you not...by the time we walked back outside on ground level the rain had completely stopped. Go figure. Oh well we were read for b-e-d.
Sidenote: We also got to see my cute cousin Amy and her husband and daughter who live in a darling little apartment on the upper east side on this day. And ate at Shake Shack which is definitely worth noting. ;) Highly recommended.

I freaking love this city so much!!
But unfortunately our time here had to come to an end...
