playdate.

"Hey Matix...do you wanna go play with Dylan??"
"Ya!"
"Okay, let's get ready to go"
"Okay..."
(runs to bathroom, hops up on counter, and begins the process...)

Hahahahaha.
The things kids pick up on.

After I helped him out...just a little bit. We went out for Pizza at Verazzano's (a high school favorite) and then to the park to play.

they look so grown up here. I hope we have many more pictures like this as they grow up as best friends.

Gosh, my little boy is growing up so fast.
I just can't get enough of him :)

Bribery.

Matix works best off of bribes.
I know that's not the best way to parent, but when you're dealing with a (not too) terrible two year old...you do whatever works.

First Example: Haircut.

My dad has this obsession with cutting Matix's hair.
He hates it long, and he loves doing it.
Matix is not as excited about the arrangement.
So what does he do?
"Matix, if you let me cut your hair...I will...."

."...Take you on a motorcycle ride!"

Not a bad deal, and everyone was happy happy happy.

Second Example: Potty Training

Well...It's not going so great.
(It's not going bad, but not good either.)
He did so great that one weekend, and then totally totally lost interest.
He just loves his diapers, for some odd reason.
He will cry at the thought of wearing underwear....
So this is where bribery comes in.
"Matix...if you wear your big boy underwear... all day with no accidents...
we can go get Baskin Robbins tonight!!"
(i have to act very excited about it too...he feeds off my energy)
He ponders...And agrees!

tell me his little underwear bum is not the cutest thing ever.

...and he had no accidents all day!!
So off to Baskins Robbins we went.
(No pictures...because we all were looking a little homeless that day. Staying home all day cleaning will do that to ya)

The next day...he was back to loving diapers.
So it's either bribery...or diapers.
Bribery it is.

Hopefully one day the bribes will stop or I will have one fat child from all the ice cream that potty training is  requiring!

St. Patty's Day.

Why does Matix love St. Patty's Day so much!?!

one word...

GGGGGRRRREEEEENNNNNNNN!

(it's his favorite color)

Yep. A day of green. Couldn't be more perfect.

Since I didn't get Matix 'til 2, we decided to have green eggs and ham the Sunday before.
Yummmy.
Matix has been a big fan of the book "Green Eggs and Ham"
or "Sam I am" as he calls it.
So we've been telling him that we get to eat it on St. Patrick's Day.
He was just so excited, we all couldn't wait.

Then, today we had a very special green dinner. Green Jello. Green Ham. Green Beans. Green mashed potatoes. We had it all, and even on a green plate. Thanks to grandma. :)

Matix finished his whole plate. So fun.

And of course we couldn't forget dessert. Matix helped grandma make green cupcakes while mommy was at work! So after dinner we devoured a couple!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

shark reef.

My friend Britt and I have been planning to take the boys to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay for.e.ver. and finally it worked out! Someway somehow she can get in free, so I was more than excited to go. Not to mention, Matix is the biggest shark fan. Who am I kidding...? He just loves animals in general. But sharks are up there. Way up there.

Seeing the sharks was awe.some. but playing with Brittany's son Keegan was just as exciting!
They have become the cutest little friends.

Her other son, Brayden is so cute too. He doesn't really talk, but he was making us laugh so hard. He was too scared to walk over the "glass covered water" that was on the ground. Even after watching the rest of us walk, run, and jump on it. He would not touch it! He just made his way along the edges. It was seriously so cute!

We ended the night at Baskin Robbins for a little ice cream treat. Matix has since asked to go back a few times. He likes being able to see all the different flavors but he always picks the same colorful one!

Such a fun night with such fun little friends.

Snowboarding...or bust.

Doug's family goes on a family snowboarding trip once a year. This year they headed up to Salt Lake and we boarded at The Canyons! (My favorite) When we were younger my family also used to do a big snowboarding trip up in SLC, but since we got the cabin in Brianhead it doesn't make sense to go anywhere else. It was so much fun to go somewhere bigger and better than the little mountain I'm so used to!! I loved it. Not to mention, I really love Doug's family...and of course spending the whole weekend with the boyfriend wasn't too bad either ;) Luckily my parents watched Matix for me...but I sure missed the little stinker butt and I heard he missed me.

Top Moments of the Trip:
1. According to my calculations the gondola should be right here. Can we get an updated map since this one is obviously out of date? -Robin
2. Beiber remix.  Thanks Robin. I blame the poop stain for laying in the street laughing on you.
3. "I have to be in the car till I
am not hungry. And since you only bought crackers I will be in here for an hour. " -Doug
4. I can't even go on the flats... Why would I willingly be surrounded by bumps? -Robin
5. Ski wolf... Or kitty. Whatever it was.
6. "NO CONTACT" -Dean
It was a super short, but super fun time. Can't wait 'til next year :)

best boyfriend award part 2

I know I brag about the boyfriend pretty often...
But sometimes I just can't help it.
This kid, I tell ya.. He treats me like a princess.
And the best part is that he genuinely loves being nice.
Here's a handful of the uber-awesome things he's done over the past few weeks
...

Exhibit A:
When I was at work...he pulled out and organized all my shoes in my closet. He wanted to build me a big shelf for them...but I politely declined. There's no room. So he just neatly put them away, with each shoe paired with its match, in hopes that I will no longer be late to church due to digging for the match to the shoe I just have to wear. He's so thoughtful.

Exhibit B:
He went over to my parents rental house on his day off to help fix it up for some new renters...in hopes that I wouldn't have to go help. (His idea, not mine) His plan only backfired a little bit. Apparently Doug's help doesn't count as my help. Dang it.

Exhibit C:
The week that I was sick all week...he made me soup, did Matix's laundry, brought me my meds, snuggled me until I fell asleep, and even made me breakfast in bed one morning. French toast. My absolute favorite. (He even brought it on a TV tray. I didn't even know we had these anymore. Leave it to Mr. observant to find one)

Exhibit D:
he takes me and my friends on Limo rides, whenever i ask.

Exhibit E:

Ever since the "episode" a few weeks ago, Doug has been working on teaching Matix that mama is his most most favorite! :)When he texted me this video, I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear.

there's a million more things I could list...but we will just keep it short and sweet.
